Function :Wintergreen oil is extracted from the leaves of a creeping shrub native to coniferous regions. Its main chemical constituent, methyl salicylate, is valued for its soothing properties and is used in topical creams and massage blends.
Wintergreen and birch are the only two plants in the world that naturally contain methyl salicylate. As a flavoring, wintergreen is used in small amounts in candies, toothpaste, and chewing gum. When diffused, it releases a refreshing, invigorating, and stimulating aroma.
Wintergreen oil is also employed in the manufacture of insecticides, fungicides, perfumes, paints, cosmetic inks, textile auxiliaries, chewing gum, mouthwashes, and more.
