Function;β-Pinene’s major use lies in its pyrolytic conversion to myrcene; from myrcene, more than a dozen high-value fragrance molecules—including linalool, geraniol, nerol, myrac aldehyde, Lyral®, and Iso E Super—can be synthesized.
Refined β-pinene itself may be incorporated into fine-fragrance and household perfumery formulas, or employed to scent other industrial products, normally at levels below 2 %. IFRA places no restriction on its use.
